Martinsville Community Band Group Photo

The Martinsville Community Band was founded in August 2010 as an alumni band to play at the first Artie Fest in Martinsville, Indiana. Pulled together through friends, social networks and even radio PSA's for what was to be a one-time concert, members decided it was just too much fun to not continue. Quickly the band grew to over 50 members. As we grew our rehearsal space moved from the Art Sanctuary to Calvary Heights Baptist Church to, now, First Baptist Church in Martinsville, all graciously donated spaces.

Our members now come from Martinsville and many surrounding communities. We span the generations from students to retired persons. There are many family members that participate in band together, including just about every combination: spouses, parent-child, siblings, in-laws, even a set of identical twins!

Our mission is to provide a fun and supportive environment to both experienced musicians and those returning to music after (sometimes) many years. We also want to give back to our community.

We have a busy concert schedule and have become an important part of community events such as the County Fair, Wonderland at the Park and, yes, Artie Fest, where it all began.

Along the way we hope to inspire young people to explore music performance, former players to reconnect with music and everyone to experience the possibilities found at the intersection of community and music.

"Don't Stop The Music"
