How to Join
We are open to everyone who plays or has played a band instrument. Whatever your skill level, you will be welcome. Many of our members returned to their instruments after having not played for decades.
We rehearse each Monday night from 7:00 to 8:30 at the First Baptist Church in Martinsville. Rehearsals are fun and casual, but we are also dedicated to the music.
There is no audition. Visit a rehearsal. Contact us through the website. Or pull aside any band member at a performance if you are thinking about joining us. It's just that easy.
What if I can't make every rehearsal or concert?
No problem. Many of our members are working adults and have busy schedules. You'll probably find, though, that band is so much fun that you'll want to find the time.
Do I have to live in Martinsville?
Not at all. Our members come from many surrounding communities.
Can I play a string instrument?
Yes! You won't be alone. We welcome string players into our band.
What if I don't have an instrument anymore?
We may be able to help. The band has a certain number of instruments that we can loan to new members until they can find their own.
It's been a while since I've played and I'm a bit... rusty.
Many us of have been there. We understand. And welcome! That's part of what a community band is for, to give a home to those of us who left our instruments behind and want to reconnect to the music that we love. We will help you find your love of music again.
